A public servant and his family members were booked for allegedly harassing his wife for dowry at Karmanghat, in Saroor Nagar on Wednesday.
According to Saroornagar Police, a case was registered against Nampally Assistant Commercial Tax Officer (ACTO) Ravindra Naik and his family members under 498-A (domestic violence) of IPC for their role in harassing Divya Bharathi, 23.
According to Divya, her parents had given dowry, a plot and valuables at the time of wedding. The ACTO, along with his parents and sisters, had been torturing her demanding additional dowry as she was unable to conceive, she said in her complaint.
They assaulted her at their residence when she wanted to visit her parents’ place in Nalgonda district on the occasion of Diwali. His family members were assisting him in the domestic violence, she stated in her complaint.
