Hyderabad: A 32-year-old software engineer surrendered before the police along with his paternal uncle and brother after killing his wife and mother-in-law at Chapal Bavi in Shivaji Nagar under Monda Market police station limits on Thursday. He confessed to have done the duo to death after getting vexed with their harassment. The accused Subramanyam Sharavanan confessed to have strangled to death his wife Padmapriya, 34, after killing her mother Parameshwari, 68, by hitting her with an iron rod and banging her head against a wall following heated arguments.
Sharvanan married Padmapriya of Bangalore in 2011. He was working in an information technology company in Bangalore. Over a period of time, because of strained relationship between the two, Sharavanan and Padmapriya filed multiple cases against each other in the police stations and courts in Bangalore. She obtained a court order to live in his house and her mother also joined her much against the wishes of the techie. In the meantime, he came to know that Padmapriya married someone else in 2007 and got divorce from her first husband.
After surrendering, he said, “Fifteen families will have peace of mind with the death of Padmapriya and her mother . Priya was having 17 affairs in Bangalore.
Our marital relationship was not valid as she had married earlier.” He claimed to have been suffering from Obsessive Compulsion Disorder (OSD).
The police informed relatives of Padmapriya about the incident. Her relatives are expected to reach the city by Friday evening.
A case has been registered under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code. Investigation has been taken up. The bodies were preserved at Gandhi hospital morgue.
