Devarakonda (Nalgonda): A ghastly incident in which a man forced his former girlfriend to drink poison and later slit her throat as her marriage was fixed with somebody else, came to light on Thursday, four days after the incident took place. Going into details, Goli Kavitha (23) and Balakrishna (24) who completed their MBA in Khadar Memorial College, on the outskirts of Devarakonda, were lovers in the past. Balakrishna hails from Racharla mandal in Prakasam district.
As the parents of Kavitha fixed her marriage with somebody else in October, Balakrishna hatched a plot to murder her. Kavita used to give coaching to students in their houses in town. On Sunday, he took her to Kacharamgutta on his motor cycle and both of them drank pesticides to end their lives. Then, he slit Kavitha’s throat and killed her on the spot. After returning to Devarakonda, Balakrishna told his relatives that he drank poison and they got him admitted into a hospital in Hyderabad for treatment.
Meanwhile, the parents of Kavitha lodged a complaint with the police in Devarakonda that their daughter was missing. When the police swung into action and interrogated Balakrishna, he confessed to the crime. This was disclosed to the media by the Devarakonda CI Bhaskar.
