Sona and her family suspected her involvement in the theft of gold bangles and allegedly humiliated her.
Hyderabad: Suspecting her involvement in the theft of gold bangles, a family allegedly humiliated their domestic worker who later committed suicide by drinking toilet cleaning acid on Wednesday.
Durga Bai, 25, a hearing impaired and a resident of Hashmatpet, went to work at the house of Sona, 40, who is also a resident of the locality. Sona and her family suspected her involvement in the theft of gold bangles and allegedly humiliated her.
The owner’s family went to Durga’s house and searched the entire house for the bangles. When they couldn’t find anything, they left the place. Durga, a woman of high self-esteem, feeling humiliated by the whole incident, went to toilet and drank a portion of acid. Later, as she started vomiting blood, she was immediately taken to Gandhi Hospital where she died within 30 minutes of getting admitted. A police complaint has been lodged by her family and local leaders against the house owners.
