Unidentified men broke into the house of PepsiCo's chairperson and chief executive officer Indira Nooyi in T Nagar and decamped with valuables.
The burglary came to light when Indira Nooyi visited the house on Wednesday. Nooyi is in Chennai to attend some functions in connection with the ongoing Margazhi music festival.
She went to the house on the G N Chetty Road and found the lock of the front door broken and a security man guarding the house missing. The cupboards and bureau in the house were found tampered with.
Nooyi's mother was staying in the house. But the house had remained locked ever since her mother left for the US six months ago.
Nooyi's manager Shri Lekha lodged a complaint with the Pondy Bazaar police on behalf of Nooyi. She mentioned in her complaint that only her mother knew the value of the stolen items.
Before leaving for the US, the mother had assigned Suryah Securities to maintain surveillance of the house round the clock.
The police registered a case and launched a hunt for the accused.
