Rajahmundry: In a bizarre incident in East Godavari, a youth set ablaze a girl for not accepting his love on Wednesday. According to available information, N Naveen, who belongs to Kathulagudem village, was harassing Keerthi Revathi for the past six months asking her to marry him.
Revathi’s father, Shankar is a small-time mechanic in Madhava Swamy temple area in Pithapuram in East Godavari district. Meanwhile, Keerthi’s marriage has been fixed and it is scheduled for December 22. Revathi was alone at her home on Wednesday as her family members were busy with the marriage preparations. Naveen entered the house and demanding Revathi to accept his love. When she refused, Naveen set Revathi ablaze with kerosene. She has suffered 60 percent burns. After getting first aid, at the Pithapuram government hospital, she was shifted to Kakinada government general hospital for further treatment. Her condition is said to be critical. Police is yet confirm the arrest of the accused.
