What a horror!

About 150 cases have been reported from Hyderabad and Cyberabad police station limits in the last two months alone, with cases of molestation and attempted rape. In December alone, four people were arrested for sexually assaulting minor girls in the city. Friday night witnessed another such horror, after an auto driver was arrested for sexually harassing his eight-year-old daughter for over a month

An eight-year-old girl studying in first standard in a government school was sexually assaulted by her own father Raju on Friday night. Raju, an auto driver from Mylargadda in Chilkalguda, was caught in an objectionable state, with his own daughter. His wife Reena (name changed), who married him nine years ago, said that she was shocked to see her husband misbehaving with their daughter.

She immediately complained to the police. A case has been registered under section 354A and Raju has been arrested.

Reena said, “After seeing my husband sexually assault our kid, I stopped the act and fought with him. I asked my kid, if he had done that earlier too in my absence. But as she is too young, she was unable to explain.”

Reena lamented, “Raju and his family have also been mentally harassing me. My in-laws had warned me not to stay in touch with my mother and sister. It’s almost a year since I spoke or met my mother. Now I don’t even know their whereabouts.”

Mohammed Khaja Moinuddin, inspector of Chilkalguda Police Station said that Raju is an alcoholic, chews tobacco and smokes ganja. “For one month, Raju has been assaulting his daughter. We have registered a statement of the daughter. We will take necessary action. I have already spoken to an NGO for the education of the girl,” he said.
