Kurnool: A liquor trader Madhusudhan Reddy of Kothapalli in Dhone mandal and his wife Ramadevi, were brutally hacked to death with hunting sickles on Sunday at around 10 pm. Police suspect the motive to be business rivalry. The alleged killers poured water at the site in an attempt to erase evidence.

Reddy, who was also involved in finance and real estate business, had recently shifted to Kurnool. The couple was staying in flat no 301 of Teja Delux Apartments at Gibson colony.

While six persons reached the apartment, the watchman permitted only two into the flat. They rang the bell to enquire about Reddy, according to the relatives. He was found in a pool of blood when the watchman was cleaning the corridor on Monday morning.

The watchman and local residents lodged a police complaint. Additional SP Venkataratnam said the offenders appeared to have ransacked the almyrahs for cash, jewellery and documents.

YSRCongress leader S V Mohan Reddy consoled the bereaved family. Party Pathikonda constituency in-charge Cherukulapadu Narayan Reddy said Madhusudhan Reddy was his childhood friend, who used to share details of even a small incident. He said it was difficult to believe that he was murdered, as two days back they had shared food.
