Prakasam: Psycho in burqa sets woman afire in Podili

A day after two young boys raped a mentally challenged girl in Podili of Prakasam district, a woman was set on fire by a miscreant on Monday. The victim has been identified as Sujatha.

According to reports, a burqa-clad man barged into Sujatha's house and tied her hands and legs before pouring kerosene. This incident has been reported from Viswanath nagar in Podili. He later set the woman afire, it is learnt.

Police said that since there was no one present in the house, she died on the spot. Situation turned tense in the region following this dastardly episode. This has created waves among Podili people.

Residents of Viswanath Nagar admit to spotting a suspicious looking man in a burqa near the bus stand. They soon brought it to the notice of some men, who tried to chase him. But the miscreant who is suspected to be a psycho entered Sujatha's house and killed her.

It is learnt that he fled from the spot before anyone could catch him. He threw away his clothes in a dustbin on the outskirts of the town.
