Nellore: Raped dumb girl describes ordeal through signs

A dumb girl was allegedly raped by two men in Nellore district, police said on Friday. According to reports, the incident occurred last night when the girl was sleeping on her terrace of her house at Mallikharjunapuram tribal colony of TB Gudur mandal.

The girl could not scream for help as she cannot speak. After the crime, the miscreants fled from the spot.

The deaf girl explained the scene to her family members in sign language.

A case was registered against the accused under relevant sections of the IPC on the complaint of the victim's family members. The victim was taken to the Nellore government hospital for medical examination, police said, adding that a hunt was on to nab the accused.

Police suspect that someone close to the family might have committed the crime and are exploring this angle too.
