Speaking to the media, District Forest Officer Prabhakar said that the officials of the Forest Department laid a trap and arrested some people who were trying to sell the skin of a five year old tiger.

He said that some people in Adilabad district have been carrying on trade in tiger skins and those of other wild animals illegally in the neighbouring Karimnagar district. He said that the sleuths of the Forest Department conducted raids on receiving information that wild animals were being killed indiscriminately for their skins.

Prabhakar said that a case has been registered and investigation is in progress. He said that security would be tightened in the district to protect the wildlife and stringent action would be taken against those indulging in such activities.
