Rescued from borewell, boy dies

Nalgonda: In a tragic incident, a three-and-half-year old boy accidentally fell into a borewell in the district on Sunday and died after he was pulled out after struggling for three hours on Sunday.

The incident occurred in Pulicherla village in Peddapura area of Nalgonda district when the boy B Shiva had gone to an agriculture field with his parents. While the couple was busy in agricultural activity, the boy was playing in the field.

He stepped on the borewell which was dug a few days ago and was covered with some bags and accidentally fell into it. On knowing about the incident, the police, fire department personnel and local officials rushed to the spot and took up operation to save the boy.

Rescue workers found out that the boy was stuck at a depth of 20 feet and started digging a parallel pit. The 108 ambulance staff who also rushed to the area, tried to supply oxygen. After some time, the rescue team noticed that the boy became unconscious but was still alive.

After a struggle that lasted for over three and half hours, the rescue team with the help of local people, managed to pull out the boy, who was by then in a critical condition. He was rushed to a hospital at Nagarjuna Sagar, where he died while undergoing treatment, according to the police.
