The Punjagutta police on Thursday arrested three persons involved in stealing 36 tolas of gold ornaments worth Rs 15 lakh from a residence in Banjara Hills on Tuesday and recovered 24 tolas. In a complaint to the police, G Ranganayakulu (84), resident of Navin Nagar on Road No. 1 Banjara Hills, stated that 36 tolas of gold ornaments went missing and claimed of suspicion over the car driver Gangaram Mandal (27), a native of Bihar.

Hyderabad: The Punjagutta police on Thursday arrested three persons involved in stealing 36 tolas of gold ornaments worth Rs 15 lakh from a residence in Banjara Hills on Tuesday and recovered 24 tolas. In a complaint to the police, G Ranganayakulu (84), resident of Navin Nagar on Road No. 1 Banjara Hills, stated that 36 tolas of gold ornaments went missing and claimed of suspicion over the car driver Gangaram Mandal (27), a native of Bihar.


Police registered a case was registered under Section 381 and 411 and took up investigation. The detective department team detained Gangaram on Thursday and interrogated him. “He confessed that he broke opened the almirah and stole the valuables.


He later gave the stolen property to Pintu and Surya to dispose the said ornaments” ACP (Punjagutta) M Venkateshwarlu said, adding that around 12 tolas were yet to be recovered from Karvi Financial Limited where accomplices Pintu Mandal (26) and Mote Surya Sagar (24) pledged the valuables. Pintu Mandal, native of Bihar and Mote Surya Sagar of New Boiguda were also arrested for receiving the ornaments and pledging.
