Hyderabad: An LLM student from Osmania University in Hyderabad was arrested by the Central Crime Station police on Wednesday in connection with the EdCet scam in Telangana State. Srinivas Reddy, who was pursuing LLM in Osmania University along with one Ramana Reddy of Nizamabad arranged two candidates to write the entrance test for B Ed admissions in Telangana.


The duo had managed to arrange one Mallesh to impersonate and write examination on behalf of the first ranker Maliga Krishnakanth and Shobhan Babu, an Indian Railways employee to write the examination on behalf of the second ranker Maliga Lingaswamy. The CCS police arrested all the six accused persons and sent them to judicial remand.


The scam was exposed after Professor Padala Prasad, Convener of Telangana State Education Common Entrance Test – 2015, lodged a complaint with the Central Crime Station police alleging malpractices in the entrance test.
