Hyderabad: The City Task Force police on Tuesday arrested an alleged burkha-clad notorious offender who had been evading arrest for long.

The accused, who is a history-sheeter, is identified as Mohammed Chand alias Builder Chand (50), a resident of Allabanda under Mangalhat police station limits.

The police said he was involved in offences like kidnapping, extortion, robberies, murder and also in cases under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act.

He was arrested several times since 1988. He was involved in as many as 31 criminal cases in Hyderabad and Cyberabad, the police said.

Chand was had undergone imprisonment in 2012 after being arrested and put on trial. After his arrested from jail in October the same year, he started extorting money from realtors.

The police had registered as many as seven cases against him during the last two years and five non-bailable cases too were pending against him.

He resorted to wearing burkha to hoodwink the police. On a tip-off, the Task Force police took him into custody and handed him over to Mangalhat police, according to Task Force DCP B Limba Reddy.
