In a shocking incident, passengers of the Nanded-bound train from Visakhapatnam were robbed at Ramapuram railway gate of Bonakal mandal of Khammam district on Thursday.
Khammam: In a shocking incident, passengers of the Nanded-bound train from Visakhapatnam were robbed at Ramapuram railway gate of Bonakal mandal of Khammam district on Thursday.
According to sources, the incident took place at around 3 am on Thursday. Some unidentified persons pulling the chain at Ramapuram railway gate boarded the Nanded Express and robbed the valuables of passengers by threatening them with weapons. They further attacked some of the passengers who opposed them, informed sources.
Women passengers of coaches 7,8,9,and 10 were robbed of nearly 12 tolas of gold and some cash. Within few minutes of the train was stopped, the loco pilot, who was alert cleverly started the engine in no time preventing the damage further.
Passengers alleged that there were no RPF personnel on the train and the security was minimal. Later, they lodged a complaint with Railway police at Khammam and Warangal railway police stations. Meanwhile, police, after registering the case, rushed to the Ramapuram railway gate and took up the investigation.
