A complaint was lodged with the police on September 7 by a woman, saying that her daughter was being threatened by a person who impersonated a girl on Facebook. He threatened the girl that he would post the girl’s profile online if she failed to send him her nude photo. Based on the complaint, the police traced the details of the accused by employing forensic tools and identified him as Abdul Majid. During interrogation, the accused revealed shocking facts that he had created 10 profiles on the Facebook posing as a girl with fake names.

He enticed not less than 80 girls to chat with him. He had collected their personal details and photos too. Police Commissioner C V Anand said Majid had been surfing on the Facebook for last 18 months to make friends with girls studying in an international school. When they refused to do so, Majid threatened to post their personal data on social websites and also tried to meet the girls in person, Anand said. Majid used the several e-mail ids to lure girls. The Police Commissioner appealed to the parents of teenage girls to keep a watch on the mails of their children. Parent may contact him on on 9490671437 or 9491030428 to report any transgression, Anand said.
