Hyderabad: The 37-year-old Hyderabad woman, a sympathiser of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) alias Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), confessed to have lured hundreds of young Muslims in India to follow and join ISIS, the sources said. Afsha Jabeen alias Nicky Joseph of Tolichowki was arrested by the Cyberabad police on September 11, when she deported at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport along with her husband Devender Kumar alias Mustafa and three children.

After recording the confession of Afsha Begum, she was produced in Ranga Reddy district Court on September 12 and was apparently sent to 14 days of judicial custody. In her confession, Afsha reportedly told that she was highly influenced by the activities of ISIS during 2009 and decided to strongly support the Sunnis and Shariyats fighting in Iran and Syria to establish a Caliphate.

In 2010, Afsha got introduced to Salman Mohiuddin, a US returnee engineer from Hyderabad, through a YouTube Channel. Having similar ideology, it took not much time for Afsha and Salman to become friends. They decided to provoke and increase the number of fighters for ISIS in India and started a group on Facebook in 2010, and used it as a tool to spread the ideology of ISIS.

In the past four years, the duo was successful to gather the attention of over 50,000 persons across the World and several among them were young Indian Muslims. The duo posted videos, literature and other supporting material of ISIS and tried to create rage among the Indian Muslims.

“In 2014, Facebook management had deleted our Facebook group for actively posting reports and incidents in support of ISIS. Later, we started four other groups including Daula News Room to attract youngsters. After Mohiuddin was arrested, I deactivated my Facebook account and Yahoo mail id to evade the arrest,” the woman sympathiser of ISIS from Hyderabad reportedly confessed.
