G Mallesh, a native of Medak district in Telangana, committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree using a towel in a nearby compound area yesterday, Begumpet Police Station Inspector G Baswa Reddy said. The reason why he took the extreme step was still not clear, he said.
"Mallesh was working as a security guard/watchman at an under construction apartment for the last 4-5 days. He earlier used to do agriculture and had now given his 2 acre land on lease," Reddy added.
The incident came to light after some locals noticed a body hanging from the tree, the officer said. A case under section 174 CrPC (police to enquire and report on suicide) was registered in this connection and investigations are underway, police said.
