Mahabubnagar: Despite widespread outcries and debates over farmers’ suicides continue to rock the State, four farmers allegedly committed suicide on Monday at different places in Mahabubnagar district.

Distressed over rain deficiencies and unable to pay debts, the farmers allegedly took the extreme step. While Lakshmi (40) of Maldakal mandal and Boya Pakeera (70) of Veepangandla mandal committed suicide by hanging, in other instance, Jayanthi (30) committed suicide by consuming pesticide.

She was soon taken to hospital, but succumbed on the way. Another farmer belonging to Kondurg mandal set herself ablaze on the same day. Meanwhile, Minister Jupally Krishna Rao urged all farmers not to commit suicide. He said the State government very soon would introduce schemes benefiting farmers.
