Hyderabad: Chain-snatchers on Wednesday have fled away with 3.5 tolas gold chain from Sangitha (35), a housewife, while she was taking her children home from school at Prem Vijay Nagar in Malkajgiri police station limits in the city.

In another incident at Agamayya Nagar in Vanasthalipuram, two unidentified persons on a bike snatched away a gold chain weighing four tolas from Varalakshmi Swathi who was walking alone on the road.

The woman told the police that the accused were on a black coloured bike and both the rider and pillion were wearing helmets. The police have booked cases in both the instances and took up investigation.

The snatchers have struck at 12 places in twin commissionerates on Sunday and fled with gold chains weighing about 40 tolas.

During investigation, the police identified that the snatchers came from Maharashtra in a DCM van loaded with some black coloured bikes (Pulsar and CBZ) to Hyderabad.

On Tuesday, Cyberabad Police Commissioner C V Anand also confirmed the involvement of a gang from Maharashtra.
