Hyderabad: An interstate gang comprising seven members was arrested by the city police on Wednesday on charges of burglaries at various places in city.

The arrested gang members-Gangavarapu Srihari (33) of Khammam, Madavath Krishna (30), auto driver from Kurnool district, Kalapally Babu alias Reddy (33) of Secunderabad, B Anjaneyulu alias Bakka Raju (28) of Shamirpet,

P Ganapathi alias Pilli Srinu alias Chanti (25) of West Godavari district, Gurthala Venkatesh (32) of Mahbubnagar district and Bariti Ramanamurthy (28), auto driver from Jawahar Nagar-were involved in burglaries at various places in Hyderabad and Cyberabad, said North Zone DCP N Prakash Reddy.

He said that the accused persons have recently committed a burglary at Jagruthi Electronics in Trimulgherry and also at Karimnagar, Khammam, Bhimavaram, Tadepalligudem, Nidadavolu (Guntur) and Vijayawada.

Explaining the modus operandi of the arrested persons, DCP Prakash Reddy said that they used to target the shops which do not have central locking system and also shops located in places with no proper street lights.

The DCP said that all the gang members fled from their homes in childhood due to poverty. They all met at Clock Tower in Secunderabad when they were doing odd jobs during their early days in Hyderabad.

Due to insufficient earnings, they planned to commit thefts and earn easy money, he said.
