He consumed pesticide in the wee hours of the day and died while undergoing treatment at Mahabubabad area government hospital.

He took the extreme step as he was under distress over the crop damage due to pests. He is survived by wife, Bali and two sons. Meanwhile, Debts burden claimed yet two more farmers in the district on Friday.

Bandi Naresh (32), a tenant farmer of Jafferkhanpet of Kalva Srirampur mandal, took Rs 2 lakh loan from banks to cultivate cotton crop in 2.5 acres of land. He was depressed as the crops were withered due to prolonged dry spell.

Unable to find a way to repay loans, he consumed pesticides at his house in the morning. Alerted family members rushed him to Peddapalli hospital but he died on the way.

Naresh was survived by wife Lavanaya and son Ganesh. In another incident, Karupakala Ramu (40) of Thirumalapur in Ramadugu mandal committed suicide by consuming pesticides.

He has invested huge amounts of money on cultivation but failed to get good yield since two years. This year also, the same condition prevailed for him. Upset over the bad situation, Ramu decided to end life.
