Hyderabad: The police arrested a 38-year-old grocery vendor from Mirchowk, on charges of sexually exploiting a six-year-old girl.

According to sources, the parents of the victim, who were labourers and live in Kala Khabar, lodged a complaint with Mirchowk police on Saturday, stating that their neighbor Ramu (28), a grocery vendor, lured their six-year-old daughter and sexually exploited her.

The couple in their complaint stated that when they questioned their daughter about his disappearance for longer time,

the victim told her parents that the accused took her to an unknown place in pretext of buying her some chocolates and he exploited her by feeling her private parts,

the sources said. Following a complaint by the parents on Sunday morning, Mirchowk police registered a case against the accused under Nirbhaya Act and took him into custody. The victim was admitted to Osmania General Hospital for medical tests.
