Hyderabad: A delegation of Congress leaders on Wednesday represented to Minister for Energy G Jagadish Reddy that irregularities had crept into appointment of Junior Assistants in Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL). The delegation urged the Minister to order CBI inquiry into the alleged scam.

Led by TPCC official spokesperson, K Mahesh, the delegation explained to the Minister that it was first-ever notification by the government after formation of Telangana State. Mahesh alleged that as many as 471 Junior Assistant Grade II posts were filled by the Company. While 70,000 candidates applied for the posts, individuals from a single family got four posts and amongst which one has attained first rank. Similarly, in Mancherial there were instances where about two posts were given in each of 70 families. “We have handed over all the details, including hall ticket numbers of the candidates,” Mahesh said.

He said that as many as 146 persons belonging to 54 families stood amongst the top 250 rank-holders. He alleged that the kingpin of the scam ensured that four from his family got the jobs. Even though issue was represented to the Vigilance Wing of the Singareni Collieries, they had failed to take action, he said.
