An office superintendent working at Legal Metrology Department in Hyderabad was arrested by Anti-Corruption Bureau officials for an attempt to extort money from an inspector working in the same department.
Hyderabad: An office superintendent working at Legal Metrology Department in Hyderabad was arrested by Anti-Corruption Bureau officials for an attempt to extort money from an inspector working in the same department.
The ACB officials laid a trap and arrested Amit Kethavath of Kolkata at Gachibowli on December 2, for trying to extort Rs 20 lakh from Legal Metrology inspector Bhaskar Reddy by promising him to remove a case registered against him in the Bureau.
During investigation, it was revealed that Y Venkateshwarlu, office superintendent at Legal Metrology, Hyderabad, had provoked accused Amit to execute his extortion plan and share the money extorted from the inspector. The officials on Friday arrested Venkateshwarlu and produced him before the court.
