Hyderabad: A 32-year old woman was attacked by syringe needle while she was taking her daughter to school in the morning hours in Vanasthalipuram police station limits. The Forensic Science Lab tests, however, confirmed no usage of toxics.

According to the police, Rama Devi, resident of Hills Colony in Vanasthalipuram, was the latest victim of needle attack, which triggered widespread panic amongst the local residents.

At around 8.30 am, she left her house for taking her daughter to school. While she was on her way, some unidentified man pricked her with a needle, generally used for syringe, from behind. Panicked due to the attack, she immediately rushed to the police station and complained about the incident.

The police began a manhunt for the culprit and sent the needle to the Forensic Lab for examination. However, nothing was found on the needle. “After recovering the needle, we sent it to the lab, but could not find any toxic substance. It could be possibly for scaring her. We are investigating the matter after booking a case,” said B Pushpan Kumar, Vanasthalipuram Inspector. This is the second such incident during last six months in the city.

In September, a fourth class student of a private school at Malkajgiri had made a complaint with the police that she was attacked by a person on bike. She was rushed to a hospital and doctors found no usage of toxic substance.
