Hyderabad: The South Zone police arrested three people including two salesmen from Old City in Hyderabad on charges of stealing mobile phones and computer peripherals of the shop they were working in and selling them.

The police recovered 80 mobile phones, Rs 25,000 cash along with some computer peripherals worth Rs 2.57 lakh from their possession.

In the first week of December, Mohd Saleem (41), owner of a mobile and computer peripheral shop at Charminar, lodged a complaint with the police stating that he noticed shortfall of mobiles in the shop. The complainant stated that one of his employees provided him a voice recording clip that contained a conversation between Mohd Abdullah and Syed Hasan, salesmen at his shop. The clip contained the plan of Abdullah and Hasan to steal mobiles and other accessories.

Based on the complaint, the accused Abdullah and Hasan were taken into custody by the police for questioning. They confessed to have stolen the mobile phones and other computer peripherals and supplied them to Feroz Khan, who runs a music store beside the complainant’s shop, said South Zone DCP V Satyanarayana during a press conference at his office on Tuesday.

The DCP said that a security guard working at the complainant’s shop in Tolichowki used to visit the shop in Charminar to steal the mobiles. He shared the profits with the accused. “Security guard Abdullah went to Uttar Pradesh recently to attend a marriage. On his arrival, he will be arrested,” DCP Satyanarayana said.
