Tirupati: In a shocking incident, a pilgrim family from Maharashtra was attacked by a person believed to be mentally disturbed, in a cottage on Tirumala hills on Sunday.
After a complaint from Ambadoss, a pilgrim, police reached the cottage and took the person into custody and brought him to SVRR hospital here for medical examination to find the reason behind his unruly behavior.
According to Tirumala II Town SI Venkatramana, the attacker (Vinodkumar) banged the door of the room around 2 am and woke up Ambadoss and his family.
As soon as pilgrim opened the door, Vinodkumar attacked him and his family members who rushed out of the room and raised an alarm, while the attacker went into the bathroom and locked himself.
The police the cottage and forcibly opened the bathroom door and overpowered him after a brief struggle. Police said the attacker identified himself as Vinodkumar, son of Subbanna, of Muniappagaripalli near Rayachoti in Kadapa district.
