Hyderabad: Shooting range in-charge at University of Hyderabad and two private security guards have been taken into custody by the Gachibowli police on Sunday on charges of killing a deer and selling venison.

Govinda Rao, an ex-serviceman, who is working as a coach at Sports Authority of Telangana (State SATS) located in UoH, along with private security guards Chandraiah and Rajaiah working at the university, were taken into custody for questioning on possession of deer meet.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Gachibowli police conducted raids on shooting range in UoH and found deer meat and animal remains. The police also recovered deer skin and meet dumped in one of the security guards’ room. Govinda Rao is suspected to have killed the deer with the help of two security guards.

They concealed the information and planned to cook the meat on Sunday night. “The trio has been taken into custody on suspicion of killing the deer. Deer skin, meat and two knives used to chop off the animal were recovered from their rooms.
