Hyderabad: A former Raj Bhavan employee, accused of raping his two minor daughters about five years ago, was convicted by the Nampally Court on Monday. The accused was sentenced to undergo life imprisonment by the court.

MD Raheem, who was an attender at Raj Bhavan was residing at his quarters (53 A) along with his wife and two daughters (aged 14 and 13 during the incident). In December 2009, when his wife Sajida Kausar went to Bangalore, leaving the daughters at home, Rahim had raped them.

When his wife came back in 2010 October, she found that her daughters were raped by their father. The girls told her mother that he had raped them for a period of four months and threatened them not to disclose it to anyone. The accused confined his daughters in a room and repeatedly raped them and harassed them.

On his wife’s complaint, he was suspended and a case was booked against him. The two girls confessed the same while questioning by the Punjagutta police. On Monday, the Fifth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Venkata Krishnam Raju examined 25 witnesses and announced a life-term imprisonment for Raheem.

Speaking to media, Sajida expressed happiness over the judgement and said justice had been delivered to her daughters, who are now pursuing professional courses in Hyderabad.
