37 lakh seized, two hawala suspects held

​Hyderabad: The Central Zone police have arrested two hawala suspects and seized Rs 37 lakh from them during a vehicle checking exercise here on Friday. The police have taken Bharath Kumar Patel (32), proprietor of Mahaveer Traders, and Amith Kumar Patel (36), an employee at the company, into custody at Gandhinagar after finding the cash in two bags hidden in their bike.

The accused could not provide receipts and documents pertaining to the money. They are suspected as hawala operators who have connections with a pan-Indian hawala network, according to a press note from the Central Zone DCP VB Kamalasan Reddy.
