Hyderabad: Partnership dispute between medical doctors led to opening of fire at his fellow doctor inside their car parked in the bylanes of Narayanguda police limits in the city on Monday.According to police, the incident took place inside the victim’s Volkswagon car at 4.30 pm on Street No 6 in Himayatnagar. The accused, Dr Shashi Kumar fled the scene immediately after he realised that his gun shot was off the target.

The bullet shot from point blank touched and went past the victim, Dr Udai Kumar’s left ear. It is said that the victim jumped out of the car, hired an auto and rushed to Apollo hospital. The duo was accompanied by their third partner Dr Sai Kumar in the car.

The victim told police that three of them are partners in Laurel hospital at Madhapur which started operations as recent as January 1. They had been working on the partnership for the last three years, Shashi Kumar felt being sidelined in the business by his partners, and wanted his investment to be returned. The DCP said that Dr Shashi Kumar has invested up to Rs 75 lakh and the other two partners have invested up to Rs 3 crore.

“Udai and Sai became managing director and CEO of the new 100 bed hospital respectively. Shashi Kumar was kept only as a director among several other NRIs who invested in the hospital and he often complained of being sidelined by the duo in management matters,” said the DCP about the motive behind the attack.

According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police V B Kamalasan Reddy , Shashi Kumar was holding a valid licence for his .32 mm pistol. Dr Shashi Kumar had invited the other two partners for a meeting in the evening.

As they went to a restaurant in Himayatnagar and found no place they drove away, Shashi, who was seated on the rear seat in the car, asked the other partners to stop the car in the bylane for a conversation. “Udai was driving and Sai was sitting in the front. The accused who was behind shot at Udai using his licensed revolver, said the DCP.

The vehicle AP 10 AT 6764 in which the incident took place belongs to the victim. Police could not trace the accused’s vehicle which was parked at another place when the three partners decided to go in one car. The accused is a resident of Sainikpuri.
