The driver of a jewellery merchant on Thursday lost a bag containing 2.3 kg gold jewellery after consuming liquor. According to the police, V Sampath Kumar, the owner of BSK Jewellers in Warangal, had sent his driver Prasanth to Hyderabad on Thursday to buy jewellery.Â

Prasanth, after coming to Hyderabad, asked one of his friends to accompany him while purchasing the gold. The duo purchased gold ornaments weighing about 2.3 kg at various shops in Charminar and Himayathnagar on Thursday evening. They consumed liquor in a bar before boarding a train to Warangal.
Prasanth, who gained his consciousness on Friday, realised that he was at Uppal bus stop and the bag containing the jewellery had gone missing and his friend was nowhere to be seen. Learning about the missing, Sampath Kumar has lodged a complaint at the Uppal police station. Based on the complaint, the police have taken Prasanth into custody for questioning and efforts are on to nab his friend, said the police.
Bag with Rs 5 lakh stolen
In another incident, a bag containing Rs 5 lakh cash was stolen near South Indian Bank at AS Rao Nagar on Friday. The victim Vamsinadh, a marble businessman, had come to the bank to collect money from one of his customers.
After keeping the cash in the bag, he kept the bag in his car front seat and went back into the bank to collect his cheque book. When he returned, the cash bag was missing. Upon receiving the information, the Kushaiguda police inspected the scene and collected the clues and the CC Camera footage from the bank and other commercial establishments nearby and registered a case.
