Hyderabad: Police on Wednesday booked a criminal case against the Andhra Bank CEO, GM, DGM, AGM and the branch manager following a complaint by an account holder of the Ghatkesar branch regarding loss of his mortgaged gold ornaments from the bank.

Narasimha Reddy, a resident of Ghatkesar had mortgaged about 250 grams of gold with the bank. He complained that the bank management did not take adequate security measures and hence his gold was stolen by burglars on Monday.

It may be recalled that burglars struck the bank between February 13 and 14 and escaped with over 70 tolas of gold ornaments from one of the three shelves in the strongroom. Following the complaint, a case has been registered under section 420, section 406 and section 188 of IPC against the Andhra Bank management, said Ghatkesar inspector B Prakash. Narasimha's jewellery was among the stolen gold items, the inspector said.
