Hyderabad: A 24-year-old student from Hyderabad, pursuing Masters in the US, died in a road accident in Alabama State late on Saturday, while four of his friends travelling in the same car suffered injuries.

The deceased student, Joy Noel Mathews (24), son of Moses, was a resident of HMT Nagar in Nacharam. He was pursuing Master of Sciences in Computers at Troy University in Alabama, a South-Eastern State of US.

Mathews, along with his friends Bharath and Vamshi of Proddutur in Andhra Pradesh and Nikhil and Yeshwanth of Hyderabad, were going in a car when the accident occurred. Mathews graduated from Little Flower Degree College in Uppal and was student of Vignan Junior College.

Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Sunday informed the media that Consul General, Atlanta confirmed about the car accident at Troy University in Alabama. The Ministry is making arrangements to send Mathews’s body to Hyderabad.
