60 held in cordon & search operation in Barkas
In order to restrict the menace of unsocial and unlawful acts in Old City, a cordon search operation was conducted in Barkas area on Wednesday and nearly 60 suspicious persons were taken into custody, including 25 history-sheeters under Chandrayangutta PS limits.
Hyderabad: In order to restrict the menace of unsocial and unlawful acts in Old City, a cordon search operation was conducted in Barkas area on Wednesday and nearly 60 suspicious persons were taken into custody, including 25 history-sheeters under Chandrayangutta PS limits.
Two cases were registered under 109 CrPC against history-sheeters Faizal Salam Bahattab aka Faizal Bahattab and Amer Jameel Barzak aka Amar Bin Sayeed Barzak. The police have also detained Shaik Abdul Shabad, a resident of Ghouse Nagar, for running SATTA in Chandrayangutta PS limits. They seized Rs 500 from his possession and registered a case under 9 AP Gaming Act. A sheet is being opened against him.
About 350 south zone police officials divided in to 20 teams have participated in the operation which was conducted by cordoning 10 entry and exit points at Barkas under the Chandrayangutta limits. During the search operations, 300 liquor sachets were seized from Yousuf Khan, 27, Falaknuma resident. He was transporting the liquor from Dhoolpet to Ghous Nagar area. He was booked under IPC section 7(a) r/w 8 (e) AP Prohibition and Excise Act.
The cops have also seized 11 domestic LPG Gas cylinders from Habeeb Jafer, resident of Chandrayangutta, for illegal refilling. They have also registered a case under 9 (b) (1) (c) of Explosive Act 1884 and 6(a) of essential commodities Act and sec 285, 286, 336 IPC.
Police seized 95 two wheelers, one JCB, five three-wheelers and four cars and verifying the documents of the aforesaid vehicles.The main objective behind this operation is to promote adherence to the law, a press release said.
