Warangal: The Excise department sleuths on Friday raided shops and seized nearly 16 tonnes of black jaggery from traders who were hoarding it in the Old Beet Bazaar in the town.

A team of officials led by Warangal (Urban) Circle Inspector Brahmananda Reddy carried out the raids on the shops and seized the jaggery and sealed the two shops. It was suspected that the jaggery was being supplied for distilling illicit liquor.

Speaking to the media, the Circle Inspector said that the raids would be continued to check illegal hoarding of jaggery.
