Nalgonda: A letter written by a married woman to the police unfolded the inhuman reasons behind her suicide on Monday. A 22-year-old woman, G Jhansi Rani of Nomula village, Nakrekal mandal, committed suicide on May 24 after writing B Tech final year exams.

Before taking the extreme step, she explained her sad story and the reasons behind her drastic step in a letter and posted it to Nakrekal CI Venkateswarlu. The CI received the letter on May 28 through registered post. According to the police, Jhansi was forced to marry Vijayender Reddy two years ago, as her mother Padma failed to repay Rs 4 lakh loan, which she took from Vijayender Reddy. Since then, she was allegedly tortured by her husband physically and mentally.

After her final year exams were concluded on May 23 in Hyderabad, Jhansi’s husband took her to Nomula. Worried about her future, Jhansi had committed suicide by consuming pesticides. Her mother and husband shifted the body to Deepakunta village (mother’s native place) after two hours, and cremated the body.

After receiving the letter on May 28, Nakrekal CI Venkateswarlu enquired about Jhansi in Nomula. During the enquiry, they came to know that Jhansi died four days ago and the body was cremated in Deepakunta, where her mother’s sister lives. Suspicious about Jhansi death, the police questioned her mother Padma. They also collected the ash samples of Jhansi and send it to forensic lab. Police registered a case on Padma (mother) and Vijayender Reddy (husband) as per IPC sections 201 and 306.
