A couple, unable to bear the expenses of bringing up two daughters sold their two-month-old daughter under the pretense of adoption for Rs 10,000. With the news selling their second daughter reached officials of the Integrated Child Development Services, the couple was questioned.
While the husband, Nayak claimed that he had given up their daughter in adoption to a relative, Madhu, his wife, revealed that she is not aware of any relative named Madhu.
Officials soon found out that the man had sold the baby to an Anganwadi worker in Medak district through Madhu. A complaint has been filed by the ICDS officials with the police.
