Hyderabad girl injured in drunk driving accident dies

A 10-year-old girl who met with an accident a week back in Hyderabad after a speeding car allegedly driven by a drunk student hit the car she was travelling in, succumbed to her injuries in hospital last night.

The victim, Ramya was put on ventilator support for eight days after she was rushed to Care Hospital in critical condition. Ramya was suffering from internal bleeding in her head and the doctors revealed that her stem cell reflexes had stopped leading to her becoming brain dead.

The accident took place in Banjara Hills area when a 20-year-old Shravil, an engineering student who was allegedly in an intoxicated condition rammed his car into the road divider and the car toppled onto the vehicle Ramya's family was travelling.

Ramya's mother Radhika, another uncle and grandfather also suffered serious injuries in the accident. The accused has been arrested and a case of culpable homicide was filed against him.
