Hyderabad: A 70-year-old man was killed in a road accident at Banjara Hills when he was on his way to see his mother living in an old age home. The police booked a case of rash and negligent driving against the car driver who fled after the accident.The deceased has been identified as P Anil Kumar Reddy (70), a resident of Yellareddyguda.

According to Banjara Hills SI G Vinod Kumar, Anil Reddy started from home on Sunday on his scooter (AP 09 CM 5596) and as soon as he reached Road No 7 in Banjara Hills, a car coming in the opposite direction hit the scooter.

Anil suffered severe head injury. The car driver did not stop and fled from the spot. Passersby informed the police about the accident and an ambulance was called but Anil died before the ambulance reached the spot.

Anil Kumar was working in a brick making company. The SI said that based on a complaint lodged by victim’s brother Ashwin Reddy, a case had been registered under section 304 A of the IPC (Causing death by negligence).

He said that the accused vehicle could not be traced immediately due of lack of CC cameras in the vicinity. However, footage from other CC cameras installed in the nearby areas had been collected for analysis, he added.
