Vijayawada: Vijayawada police are plannng to curb cyber crimes with help of telecom service providers. They want to send SMSs to the people to create awarness about cyber crimes.

It is learnt that police detected 15 cyber crime cases in the city in the recent past. Hence, Police Commissioner Gautam Sawang wanted to set up a separate Cyber Crime Police Station in the city.

Vijayawada police took one accused into custody for uploading objectionable videos of his girl friend. After detecting the case, police decided to create awareness among youth and others by sending SMSes in order to contain cyber crimes in future.

Police are planning to convene a meeting with the telecom service providers and they would discuss on cyber crimes and are ready to tie up with the service providers.

Police would alert the mobile users on digital cheating, loading objectionable videos, Nigerian fraud and others.
City police would develop awareness programme for college students and also working women, said DCP Pala Raju. Service Providers would send alert SMSes on different types of cyber crimes, he added.
