Vijayawada: The city police arrested a software engineer in Hyderabad on Tuesday, under the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, 2013, popularly known as Nirbhaya Act, for uploading objectionable videos of a woman.

According to DCP (Law &Order) G Pala Raju, the accused M Murari, a resident of Avanigadda in Krishna district was working as a software engineer in Hyderabad.

Murari fell in love with a woman from Gollapudi, who was working as a pharmacist at Hyderabad and proposed to her but was turned down. Angered at the rejection, he posted obscene videos of the woman online. The father of the victim lodged a complaint at the Bhavanipuram police station on August 28.

Under the supervision of Pala Raju, Cyber Crime Inspector K Satyanandam and Bhavanipuram Inspector Srinivasa Rao, investigated the case and arrested the accused. They also deleted the videos which the accused had posted online.
