Very recently, the mother-in-law suffered a heart-attack and recovered. During that time, the mother-in-law wanted to give away all her jewellery to her daughters. Sensing this, Padmavathi hatched a plan with her elder brother’s wife Devi Reddy (widow) who stays in Hyderabad.

Inspired with a crime story telecast on Television, Padmavathi handed over all the jewellery to Devi Reddy and fabricated a story saying that people who came to deliver the current bill gave sedatives to her and her mother-in-law and robbed all the jewellery. Town Circle Inspector YRK Srinivas took this case as a challenge and nominated a special group to crack the case. The team investigated and startling revelations tumbled out.

According to police, it has been Venkata Padmavathi who mixed sedatives in the tea given to mother-in-law. After the old woman became unconscious, Padmavathi with the help of Devi Reddy and another person broke open the cupboard and took out all the valuables and handed them over to Devi Reddy.

Later, she also consumed two sleeping pills in order to create an alibi that both of them were equally administered sedatives. Unaware of all this, Padmavathi’s husband Murthy lodged a police complaint and rushed her mother, to hospital.

But, the mother-in-law died in the hospital while undergoing treatment. Police, with an element of suspicion on the role of daughter-in-law focused on her movements and at last, cracked the case.
