Hyderabad: An engineering graduate from Nalgonda district was arrested by the LB Nagar police in a chain snatching offence and recovered a gold chain worth Rs 60,000 from him.

On September 16, at about 8.10 pm, accused Miryala Ravi Kumar (22), snatched a gold chain worn by one K Sujatha, when she was waiting on her bike at Rock Town Colony in LB Nagar.

Based on the footage recovered from the CC cameras, the police apprehended him on Sunday night, when he was about to commit another offence at Chankayapuri Colony.

“Accused Ravi Kumar recently completed his engineering in Nalgonda and came to Hyderabad in search of a job. Even after attending several interviews, he could not secure the job and meanwhile, the placement consultancies also demanded more money.

Moreover, his parents are also not sending him money for his expenses. He then decided to commit thefts for easy money,” said LB Nagar DCP Tafseer Iqbal during a press conference on Monday.

The crime team has taken Ravi to the police station for questioning and he confessed to have committed the snatching.

Based on that, the stolen gold chain (two tolas) was recovered from his room, where he hid it for later disposal, the DCP said.
