Vendor held for killing minor girl
A vegetable vendor from Old City has been arrested in connection with the murder of a 14-year-old girl, whom he lured on the pretext of love, police said. On Sunday, the Narsingi police had recovered an unidentified body of a young girl from bushes near Gandipet.Â

The girl’s hands were tied, she was gagged and her head was smashed with boulders, when the police found the body.Acting swiftly, the police collected footage of CCTV cameras from the nearby traffic signals and identified a bike on which the girl was seen travelling with a man. The teams plunged into action and nabbed Mohammed Akbar (25) of Bandlaguda on Monday.
Police interrogation revealed that accused was a neighbour of the deceased girl. He had lured her on the pretext of love and convinced her to elope with him. The girl took Rs 40,000 and some gold ornaments from her house and accompanied the accused.
“After reaching Gandipet, he expressed his intention of having sexual pleasure from the girl, but she refused. Akbar then took the girl to bushes and forcibly laid her down on the ground, gagged her, tied her hands with a cloth and smashed her head with a stone. Further, he slit her throat with a knife and fled with valuables,” Shamshabad DCP Sunpreet Singh said.
