Police arrest couple for daughter’s death
Pedavegi police arrested the parents of a 12-year-old girl in connection with her death along with another woman at Ramasingavaram village in Pedavegi mandal of West Godavari district on Sunday.
Eluru: Pedavegi police arrested the parents of a 12-year-old girl in connection with her death along with another woman at Ramasingavaram village in Pedavegi mandal of West Godavari district on Sunday.
Addressing the media on Sunday,the Eluru rural Circle Inspector Adapa Naga Murali said that Yalamarthy Rajaratnam and his wife Swaroopa Rani, residents of Durgamma Colony of Ramasingavaram, had scolded and beaten their daughter Malleswari (12) on September 22 for not attending school regularly.
Following their beatings, Malleswari became unconscious and she was rushed to a medical practitioner in Badarala village of Lingapalem mandal by her parents.
The practitioner refused to treat the girl as her condition was serious whereupon the parents shifted her to Eluru Siri Hospital. However, the doctors declared her dead on arrival.
