Eluru: Two youth were electrocuted and another seriously injured when the Eicher van with paddy harvesting machine contacted a high tension power cable at Vellamilli village in Unguturu mandal on Friday.According to police, Kadimi Bhaskara Rao (32) of Reddypalem village of Nellore district loaded a paddy harvesting machine in his Eicher van to work in the farm fields of Vellamilli village in Unguturu mandal in West Godavari. He was accompanied by machine operators Kamavarapu Jagapati (28) and Gangapatnam Pavan of Kotha Vanguturu. The van reached Vellamilli on Friday. When Bhaskara Rao, the truck driver-cum-owner, tried to turn the vehicle into the farm field, the harvesting machine and the cabin of the Eicher van came in direct contact with the 11 KV high tension power cable.

In this incident, Bhaskar Rao and Jagapathi, who were in the cabin got electrocuted and died on the spot. The other operator Gangapatnam Pavan was seriously injured while trying to rescue the duo. Watching the incident the local farmers immediately switched off the transformer in the nearby fields and informed police and fire personnel. However, before the police and fire personnel reached the spot, both were dead following the electrocution. The police shifted Pavan to Eluru Government Hospital. Chebrole police registered a case. The van owner Bhaskar Rao was survived by wife and two children, while the other Jagapati was survived by wife and a child.
