Eluru: West Godavari police arrested five burglars in connection to 17 cases at Bhimadole and recovered gold, silver ornaments and cash worth Rs 60 lakh from the accused.Addressing media at District Police office, the Superintendent of Police Bhaskar Bhushan said that Eluru and Bhimadole police conducted checks at Bhimadole Railway Gate on National Highway on Thursday and took Gollapalli Naga Malleswara Rao (35), his relative Gollapalli Nagaraju (40) of Eluru and Dasari Bose Raju alias Bose (38) of Jangareddigudem into custody. The police team seized Rs 23.76 lakh, 440 grams of gold ornaments and one kilogram of silver articles from them. Acting on their information, the police team led by DSP G Venkateswara Rao arrested Sheikh Asleem Begum (52) and Sheikh Sameera alias Surya Kala (23) of Kajuluru village (East Godavari).

After both were released, they started burglaries in various areas including West Godavari district. Sheikh Aziz purchased lands in the names of his wife Sameera and father Shaikh Mastan Saheb with the burgled amount. Naga Malleswara Rao kept the remaining amount with his relative Gollapalli Nagaraju and Dasari Bose Raju. The two were committed in 17 burglaries under Bhimadole, Eluru rural, Chebrole, Denduluru, Undrajavaram, Eluru two-town police station jurisdictions, SP said.

The SP said that Aziz was now sentenced in Central Jail in Rajamahendravaram on a burglary case under Bommuru police station jurisdiction. The SP added that the police team recovered cash worth Rs 57.56 lakh, 520 grams of gold ornaments and eight kilograms of silver articles from the accused at Kajuluru village in East Godavari district. Eluru DSP G Venkateswara Rao, Bhimadole CI M Venkateswara Rao, Eluru rural SI Subhash and police personnel participated in the media conference.
